How to build a portfolio website that gets you hired
October 31, 2026

A portfolio website is often the first thing a client sees before they call you. It should answer three questions fast: what you do, what you have done, and how to reach you.
1. Lead with your best work
Put three to six projects on the front page, each with one clear image and a single line saying what you did and for whom. Visitors decide in seconds whether to keep reading, so do not bury your strongest work under long text.
2. Show the process, not only the result
For each project, add a short note on the problem, what you changed, and the outcome. A client who is hiring wants to know how you think, not just how a finished piece looks.
3. Make contact easy
Add a contact form and a WhatsApp or phone link on every page. Most small business clients in India prefer a quick message to a long email, so make that the easiest option.
4. Keep it current
Remove old work that no longer represents you and add new projects as they finish. A short updates section shows that you are active, which builds trust.
5. Check it on a phone
Many clients will open your page on their phone first. Look at every page on a small screen before you share the link.
ShopToWay makes this simple: pick the portfolio plan, add your projects and a contact form, and share your link. Start your free trial.
